Nameserver IP Address Changes (Windows)

Windows Network No Comments »

As part of our on-going commitment to improve the service we offer there is a requirement to migrate our DNS servers to new servers and IP addresses.

If you are a reseller hosting customers using our un-branded nameservers:

ns1 / ns2 / ns3. ourhelmcp.com
ns1 / ns2 / ns3. ourwindowsnetwork.com

You can safely ignore this email and no action is required.

If you are a reseller hosting customer with private / personal nameservers (i.e. ns1.yourcompany.com) please read this email very carefully. Failure to ignore this email will result in a loss of service to all your domains.

On Wednesday 1st October 2008 from midnight we will be migrating all of our DNS servers to new hardware and networks, this will result in IP address changes. We will also be taking the opportunity to add a further DNS server (NS4) in another UK facility to further improve the reliability & uptime of the DNS service.

After the migration has completed our existing IP addresses will still work until midnight on Tuesday 7th October 2008.

When you requested personal nameservers to be set-up you will have had to “register” these nameservers with your domain registrar. This involves providing the IP address for each nameservers entry (i.e. NS1). After the maintenance has completed you will be required to updates these registered nameservers at your domain registrar to our new IP addresses.

Once the DNS migration has completed we will be sending a further email with details of these new IP addresses, you will then have up until midnight on the 7th October to update these entries. If you are not going to be unable to update your personal nameservers during this period please contact our Windows Hosting Support department via the Helpdesk providing us with details on how we can update these IP addresses for you at your domain registrar.

Failure to update IP addresses before midnight on Tuesday 7th October 2008 will result in a loss of all service for domains using your personal nameservers.

If you have any questions or concerns please contact the Windows Hosting Support Department via our Helpdesk.
