Web1 Problems

Friday, April 25th, 2008

Friday 25th April 2008 - 15.04

We are currently looking into problems with the Web1 Linux Server, this is resulting a number of websites being unavailable.

Please accept our apologies for the inconvenience this may cause.

UPDATE: 17.15 - All sites are now back on-line. The problem was caused by a bug in the control panel software we use, Plesk. It was sending the incorrect IP address to our centralised DNS servers which resulted in a temporary period where the wrong IP was being served. We repaired this as soon as we noticed it by writing a workaround ourselves, It will not happen again, as we are now aware this bug exists and we will be reporting it to the developers shortly.

PHP4 > PHP5 Upgrade (Linux Web1)

Sunday, April 13th, 2008

As from 31 December 2007, support from PHP.net for version 4 of PHP ceased. We will be upgrading the Web1 Linux Server to PHP5 and upgrading the Apache web server to the latest version.

Popular scripts used today (Wordpress, Joomla, Oscommerce, etc) have all been updated to work with PHP5. We recommend all customers ensure they have the latest versions of scripts installed, if you require any assistance with upgrading scripts please submit a ticket to our Linux Support Department and we will be happy to assist.

If you have any custom scripts we recommend you ensure these scripts will work with PHP5 before the upgrade so code can be updated to ensure it does work.

We will be upgrading PHP on the Linux Web1 between 10pm - 6.00am on Friday 18th April 2008
